Summer Bishil was born in New York City. She is best-known for her role as Margo Hanson on Syfy's fantasy drama The Magicians. Her prior role as Lebanese American teenage girl Jasira who is undergoing many personal trials against the backdrop to the U.S. war in Iraq was in Alan Ball's movie Towelhead. In the following year she was voted one of the Ten actors in Variety's list of To Watch. Crossing Over, a 2009 crime-thriller film where she played a strong female role titled Taslima Jangir was nominated as one of the Independent Spirit Award nominee for the Best Female lead category.
